ELECTION 2013

The next National and Local Elections will be held on May 13, 2013 the second Monday of May (as stipulated in Section 2 of R.A. 7166).

This year the scheduled start of the campaign period for local elections officially begins on Good Friday. Since the Philippines is predominantly Catholic, solemnity is expected to give way to the din of various campaign jingles and sweet promises of political candidates vying for votes for the May 13 polls.

According to Atty. Glicerio Alarcon, the COMELEC Officer of Trece Martires, “the campaign period for local candidates was supposed to start on Good Friday; however, campaigning on that day as well as on Maundy Thursday is prohibited, according to Commission on Elections (COMELEC) Resolution 9385”.

There are three (3) important reminders fro the voters (1) completely fill the circle beside the name of the candidate you are voting for (2) use only the markers provided and lastly (3) do not vote more than what is needed for a position. An example is the senatorial candidates are 33 in all, you must onl.y mark 12 circles or your vote will be void.
