Expanded Program for Immunization (EPI) is a DOH program that aims to immunize children 0-12 months against a variety of preventable diseases such as polio, measles and mumps.
This program is provided free charge to all eligible Filipino children by the government. The program is observed nationally, and aims to eradicate occurrences of preventable diseases and to uphold the health of the Filipinos.
However, even though the government provided free vaccinations to every Barangay Health Centers, there are some Families that fail to return their children for their scheduled vaccination. In order to ensure complete immunization, the Health Workers conducted a catch–up, wherein they visit from house to house, checking the children’s immunization records, and administers due vaccine.
